Rebecca Farmer, Founder of Telling Our Tales, witnessed first-hand the daily challenges faced by schools in remote Nigerian communities. While implementing e-libraries for an educational charity, she quickly recognised that meaningful educational support goes far beyond delivering tablets and solar chargers.​​​

Confronted by environmental realities—dust, rain, power cuts, and security risks—Rebecca saw how ill-suited digital tools were to many of the schools’ conditions. This sparked a six-year journey of deep listening and collaboration with teachers, parents, and—most importantly—children.

From these experiences, a mission took root: education must meet people exactly where they are. Nigeria’s bright young minds can’t afford to wait for a digital future—they need practical, powerful solutions now. This belief became the foundation for Telling Our Tales and its flagship programme, Reading Made Easy.

More than a literacy tool, Reading Made Easy is a movement. It’s our way to empower, engage, and uplift communities—proving what grassroots-driven change can achieve when we come together with purpose.
